Dear HC TERPS Family,
It is with great excitement that I am the newly elected president of the Howard County TERPS Football and Cheer program for the 2010 season.
I have been involved with Howard County Sports for over 8 years, and have been coaching youth football for 7 years. I have watched the Mid-Maryland Football and Cheer program and particularly the Howard County Terps change and grow over the past years and am encouraged by the prospects that this new season offers.
One of the most important aspects of our program is ensuring that we retain the families that participated with our program last year. We hope to see each of you in the upcoming 2010 year. For those families with eligible children, please register for the upcoming season early. This will help us to better plan for the upcoming season.
Our organization can only approve through continued participation from families like yours, so please consider volunteering your time in one of the following ways:
• Join one or more of our Action Committees. Including (1) Coaches Recruitment and Selection; (2) Coaches Development and Support; (3) Program Goals and Objectives; (4) Cheerleading Outreach & Development; (5) Student-Athlete/Family Retention; (6) Community Outreach Events; (7) Communications and Marketing; (8) Fundraising; (9) Indoor Arena Football; and (10) Homecoming.
• Participate in our Community Outreach and Fundraising Events
• Invite other families to join the HC TERPS.
• Stay connected and involved by visiting our web site at www.hcterps.org or our TERPS blog called The SNAP at http://hcterpsblog.wordpress.com/
• Consider joining our volunteer coaching staff.
If you’d like to join one of our committees, send an email to me or the HC Terps Board Secretary at secretary@hcterps.org.
Teamwork has always been part of the foundation of the HC TERPS and is the platform of our motto: Developing student-athletes by teaching Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, and Perseverance to achieve Success. It’s time that we rededicate and focus on efforts on this concept of teamwork. I believe that we should strive for the teamwork that defines and grows our relationships between one another into a community that not only serves together as HC TERPS volunteers, but also has fun together. Because in the end, youth football and cheerleading are sports that our student-athletes should want to do for fun. Yes – they will learn life lessons along the way, but first -- it must be about fun for them and for us!
Regards,
Jerome Alston
