The Howard County TERPS Football & Cheer Program is dedicated to developing student-athletes by teaching Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, and Perseverance to achieve Success. The program is managed by the Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks, but is primarily operated by volunteers from the community.

Each football season, volunteers perform countless hours of service to help ensure our student-athletes are learning the basis of football and cheerleading in an environment that is safe, builds character, and most importantly – fun. More than 2,500 student-athletes, ages 5-13 years old, have benefited from our program to date. Many have gone on to play and cheer for their high school and college football programs by building upon the tactics and skills learned as a member of the Howard County TERPS.

While we’ve had some success, we believe that the best is yet to come. Our program is growing – with more student-athletes and volunteers joining us each year. Perhaps even more important, more than 90% of our student-athletes typically receive academic recognition at our end-of-the-year banquet.

Yes we are growing, but we need help to continue making a real difference and impact in the lives of our student-athletes. We need financial contributions to serve as the springboard for our program. Your financial contribution will help us fund things such as the following:

• Rent lights for the practice fields so our student-athletes can have a productive practice in the Fall when it gets dark early
• Purchase specialize equipment that will help our student-athletes better develop their skills
• Purchase team apparel (such as HC TERPS jackets and/or duffle bags) that we can give to the student-athletes for free
• Provide scholarships to the families of student-athletes who may not be able to afford the registration fee to join the program

These are just a few examples of how your contribution may be used. In all cases, however, you can be assured that 100% of your contribution will be used to directly support the HC TERPS student-athletes – children in our community who really need and deserve your support.
